Overview
The Fireblocks mobile app will be temporarily removed from the Apple App Store in France on February 8, 2023. This temporary action has been put in place to ensure compliance with recent Apple encryption requirements and French data regulations.
This change only impacts customers who use the mobile app on iOS and have their Apple ID registered in France. Customers who use the mobile app on Android will not be affected.
How are we resolving the issue?
The Fireblocks Governance, Risk, and Compliance Team has already submitted the appropriate encryption declaration forms to the French government. The government has up to two months to provide a response to our documents.
As Fireblocks' encryption is currently under standard review by the French government, we are unable to provide a date for when the iOS app will be reinstated in the French Apple App Store. We will continue to monitor and provide updates as they become available to us.
How might this impact your operations?
If you are currently using the Fireblocks mobile app on iOS, you can continue to use it for regular operational activities, such as approving or signing transactions and approving external connections.
However, you will not be able to:
- Receive mobile app updates, which are required to use new features;
- Add new workspace users who use an Apple device and are required to install the Fireblocks iOS app within the territory of France; and
- Migrate the Fireblocks mobile app to a new iOS device, i.e. upgrading to a new iPhone.
Additionally, new Fireblocks customers in France will have to use an Apple ID set to a location other than France in order to download and update the Fireblocks mobile app until this is resolved.
How can you continue to receive mobile app updates or add new iOS devices?

Just in case your recovery passphrase is required, make sure you have it available in some form before you begin the process below.
- Sign out of your original (French) Apple ID.
- Create a new Apple ID and set the location to any country or region other than France.
- Download or update your existing Fireblocks mobile app from the new region’s Apple App Store.
- Sign out of your new Apple ID to your original Apple ID to continue working as usual.
We will communicate when new iOS updates are available. Note that to download updates, you will need to switch to your new Apple ID again.
