There are numerous types of assets in the crypto ecosystem. While some assets exist only on one blockchain, others are represented on multiple blockchains, whether as tokens or native currency. For example, MATIC is the native currency of the Polygon network, but also exists as a token on the Ethereum network.
To use your assets, the ability to transfer assets from one network to another is essential. With the Fireblocks platform, there are two ways you can transfer assets between networks:
- Fireblocks exchange connectivity: Transfer assets using Fireblocks’ exchange integrations.
- Bridge contracts: Transfer assets using Fireblocks' DeFi integrations, such as web3 or API.
Fireblocks exchange connectivity
If your exchange account is supported by Fireblocks, you can integrate it with your Fireblocks workspace. For more information, refer to Fireblocks exchange connectivity article.
When you withdraw assets from an exchange account, you can choose the network on which you want to receive them. You can also do this in your workspace. The example below shows a withdrawal of DAI from Coinbase:
Bridge contracts
Many blockchain projects have introduced bridges, which allow users to combine two smart contracts on different chains and perform cross-chain transfers. You can use a bridge by making a smart contract call directly from your wallet to the bridge.
On the Fireblocks platform, you can make contract calls to bridge contracts directly on-chain using Fireblocks Smart Contract API or various Web3 bridging applications with Fireblocks Web3 Access.
Bridge options
The bridge applications below have WalletConnect implemented and can be used to bridge assets directly from your Fireblocks wallets.
- Avalanche Bridge (managed by Avalanche): Bridge assets to and from the Avalanche C-Chain.
- Polygon Bridge (managed by Polygon): Bridge assets to and from the Polygon network.
- Arbitrum Bridge (managed by Arbitum): Bridge assets to and from the Arbitrum network.
- Optimism Gateway (managed by OP Mainnet (Optimism)): Bridge assets to and from OP Mainnet (Optimism).
- Multichain: Bridge assets to and from different networks.
- cBridge: Bridge assets to and from different networks.
