MPC key shares are used for signing all transactions from any Vault account to any destination for all blockchain protocols. Your MPC key shares are maintained by the Fireblocks mobile app on your mobile device.

Troubleshooting incomplete user setup

If your user role has signing privileges, your user setup is not complete until the workspace Owner approves your key shares using the Fireblocks mobile app on their mobile device. The Owner has 12 hours to approve the new user’s key shares once the notification has been sent. Once the owner approves your new MPC keys on their Fireblocks mobile app, you have 6 hours to complete the MPC registration. Learn more about notification expiration.

If your MPC key share has not been approved during workspace setup, you will not be able to create new transfers from any vault account or sign transactions submitted by a different user in your workspace. You will be able to sign into the Fireblocks Console. Depending on your user role, you will be able to view and modify all available accounts and settings, create transactions from third-party connections, make and approve workspace changes, and submit and approve new external connections.

Generating key shares to complete user setup

If you have finished your user setup for an Admin or Signer role but can’t create new transactions from the Vault, contact your workspace Owner and request key share approval. If more than 12 hours have passed since finishing your user setup, you have two options:

• Request the Owner to delete your user and then recreate it, which will allow you to complete the MPC setup process.
• Request the Owner or an Admin to re-enroll your mobile device.
