Policy History lets you view, compare, export, and restore previous versions of your Fireblocks Policies, so you can see what changed, when, and by whom.

Every time you publish a Policy, Fireblocks saves the previous version. Policy History gives workspace admins and security auditors a complete, browsable record of these versions. You can review the Policy rules in any version, compare versions, export them, and restore an earlier version when you need to.

This helps you meet audit and governance requirements, and supports incident response: if a malicious transaction occurred in the past, you can check which Policy was in place in your workspace at the time.

Who can use Policy History

You can open Policy History if you have permission to view Policies in your workspace. Restoring a version requires the same permission as publishing a Policy, and a restored version still goes through your workspace's normal approval process before it takes effect.

View a Policy's version history

To view the version history for a Policy:

1. In your Fireblocks Console, navigate to Policies.
2. Select the policy type you want to review.
3. Open the Version History tab.

The tab lists every published version of that Policy type, with the newest at the top. The version currently in effect is marked as Active.

Understand version metadata

Each version in the history shows:

• The version number and version ID
• The publisher, i.e. the workspace member who published the version
• The number of Policy rules in the version
• The date the version was published
• The publication note, if one was added

To view the full set of Policy rules for a version, select the version.

Search the Policy rules in a version

A version can contain many Policy rules. To locate a specific rule within a version:

1. Select the version you want to search.
2. In the rule section, enter your search term in the search bar.

The list narrows down to the Policy rules matching your search. The search covers all parts of a rule, so you can search by any value a rule contains.

Compare two versions

You can compare a version with the one immediately before or after it:

1. Open the Version History tab.
2. Select the version you want to compare.
3. Select Compare, then choose the adjacent version.

The comparison displays both versions and highlights the Policy rules that were added, removed, or changed.

Export a version

You can export any version to keep an offline record for it, or share it with an auditor.

1. Select the version you want to export.
2. Select Export.
3. Select file type: CSV or JSON.

Fireblocks downloads the selected version in the file type of your choice. Export uses the same options available on the Policies page.

Restore a previous version

If you need to undo a change, you can restore an earlier version.

1. Open the Version History tab.
2. Select the version you want to restore.
3. Select Restore.

When you restore a version, Fireblocks loads it as a new active draft. The draft goes through your workspace's normal publish and approval flow before it takes effect, so no Policy goes live without approval.

Add a note when you publish a Policy

You can attach a free-text note to a Policy when you publish it. The note is stored with that version and helps you and other admins understand why the change was made. To add a note:

1. Make your changes, then start to publish the Policy.
2. Enter your note in the note field.
3. Publish the Policy.

The note appears next to that version in Policy History and is visible to all workspace admins. After the version is published, the note cannot be changed.
