Overview
When you create an on-ramp or off-ramp order, you select a payment method — the way fiat currency moves from you or your client to the provider, or vice-versa. The payment method you select determines what happens next after you create the order.
The options available depend on your provider. The Fireblocks Console shows only the methods your connected account supports for the selected currency.
Standard bank transfer
After you create the order, a payment instructions panel appears with the provider's bank details. You or your client initiate the transfer from your external bank using those details. The order waits in Awaiting Payment status until the provider confirms receipt of the funds.
What you need: The external bank account you will send from. No additional details are required when creating the order.
Examples: Wire transfer (USD), ACH (USD, COP), IBAN (USD, EUR), SEPA (EUR) Interac (CAD), PIX (BRL), SPEI (MXN), PAYID (AUD) CIPS (CNY), FPS (GBP, HKD), InstaPay (PHP), CHAPS (GBP)
Mobile money (MOMO)
When creating the order, you provide the recipient's mobile phone number and mobile network. The provider sends a payment approval request directly to that phone. The recipient approves the request on their device and the funds transfer automatically - no separate bank transfer step is required.
What you need before creating the order:
- Recipient's mobile phone number (including country code)
- Mobile network (for example, M-Pesa, Airtel, MTN)
- Recipient's email address
Examples: M-Pesa (Kenya), Airtel Money (Uganda), MTN Mobile Money (Rwanda).
Local bank transfer with redirect (LBT)
After you create the order, you are redirected to the provider's payment page to complete the transfer. Once you finish on the provider's page, you are redirected back to the Fireblocks Console. The order then moves to Processing once the provider confirms the funds. If the redirect fails or you close the tab, the order has an expiration time, after which the link is no longer valid.
What you need: Access to the provider's payment page. No additional details are required when creating the order beyond selecting the currency and rail.
Examples: Local bank transfers in Uganda, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Tanzania, Botsowana, and other African markets.
