Overview
Makachain is a payment-focused, Layer 1 EVM-compatible blockchain designed to simplify digital asset transactions by eliminating the need for separate gas tokens. It allows users to pay network fees directly in the token they are sending, reducing friction for everyday, real-world payments.

How Makachain fees work
Makachain has three behaviors that differ from standard EVM chains:
- Fees are paid in the transferred token, not the native asset. When transferring an ERC-20 token, the transaction fee is deducted from the token being sent, not from your MFUEL balance.
- Fees are deducted from the sent amount (gross model). A fixed fee is subtracted from the transaction amount itself. For example, sending 1 USDC means the recipient receives 0.9 USDC. The fee amount varies by token, but follows the same logic.
- Automatic MFUEL refilling. The blockchain automatically refills MFUEL as needed. This generates internal blockchain transactions which appear as separate events in your Fireblocks transaction history.
This applies to native asset (MFUEL) transfers as well.
