Overview
Some Automation rules may fail with the following error:
Action failed
USD denomination is not supported for asset [asset symbol]. Exchange rate unavailable.
Issue
This error occurs when the automation rule is configured to use a USD-denominated amount instead of the asset's native amount, but a reliable exchange rate can't be retrieved for the selected asset. This typically occurs with less commonly traded assets, including assets you may have created using tokenization on Fireblocks.
This may also happen in one of the following situations:
- The exchange rate for the asset is missing or outdated.
- The asset is unsupported by our rate provider for USD conversions.

Resolution
You can solve this issue in two different ways:
Option 1: Use the Asset's Native Amount
Select the net asset amount for the automation action instead of the USD net value. For example, set 1000 USDC instead of $1000 USD. (USDC is used here as an example, although this issue should not occur with USDC)

Option 2: Request a Fixed USD Rate
If your organization requires USD-based amounts, contact Fireblocks Support to request a fixed conversion rate for the asset. This setup is helpful when using USD as a standard across multiple assets or workflows.
Tip
This issue can also occur when using “Any Asset” in automation and combining it with a USD amount. To prevent it:
- Use specific assets in Automation rule conditions and actions.
- Check that the selected asset supports USD rates.
