Overview
As of January 31st, Google will fully transition from the SafetyNet Attestation API to the Play Integrity service. To comply with this change, the Fireblocks app has integrated Play Integrity support starting from version 2.10.0. All users using versions lower than 2.10.0 must upgrade their app to maintain access.
What is SafetyNet?
SafetyNet is a security service developed by Google to protect apps and devices by ensuring they run in a secure, uncompromised environment. It checks if a device has been tampered with (e.g., rooted or modified) and validates the app's integrity.
Google is replacing SafetyNet with the Play Integrity service, which offers stronger security measures and modernized protections for apps and users.
For additional details, see Google’s official announcement about the transition here.
What this means for you
Best option: upgrade your app to the latest version
The easiest way to avoid service interruptions is to upgrade your Fireblocks app to the latest version available on the Google Play Store.
If you have the Fireblocks app version 2.3.4 to 2.10.0:
You will receive a “Force Update” prompt on January 30th, requiring you to upgrade your Fireblocks app to the latest version.
If you have any version below 2.3.4:
These versions do not support the “Force Update” feature. Starting January 31st, access to the app will no longer be possible for you unless you manually upgrade your Fireblocks app to the latest version via the Google Play Store.
