The Fantom Foundation is rebranding and upgrading the Fantom (FTM) token on the Fantom Opera network and the ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network to the Sonic (S) token on the Sonic network.
The Fantom/Sonic conversion rate is 1:1.
Therefore, note that:
- We have now added support for Sonic and its native S token. Learn more here.
- You can follow Sonic's official announcement for the FTM > S migration.
- WalletConnect integration is scheduled to be added by January 17th, 2025 (subject to change).
Migration timelines
- Sonic official Mainnet launch: December 18th, 2024
- Migration period: launch onwards
- Two-way swap between Fantom and S: first 90 days
- One-way swap (Fantom > S only): after 90 days
Migrating via Exchanges
You will be able to deposit Fantom [FTM] and withdraw Sonic [S] once the exchanges enable the withdrawals from Sonic.
Note:
Exchanges are about to deprecate support for the FTM token soon, and will suspend deposits.
Binance timeline
- Fantom deposits are possible until 2025-01-13 03:00 (UTC)
- Sonic withdrawals are possible starting from 2025-01-16 08:00 (UTC)

Moving other assets to the Sonic blockchain
Converting tokens running on other blockchains to tokens running on Sonic is possible via Sonic’s bridge tool.
